Founder Tony Detrick didn’t set out to start a home concierge company — he just wanted to go fishing. As a child, summers at his grandmother’s house — built by her own two hands — meant a constant stream of projects instead of playtime. Years later, when he purchased his first home (a fixer-upper on a street poetically named Melody Lane), he realized the hard way why his grandparents were always working. The to-do list never ended, and doing the work himself left little time for family or fun.

Eventually, Tony could afford to hire professionals, but the burden didn’t ease. He still found himself wrangling contractors, managing quotes, keeping records, and dealing with missed appointments. Even with a long background in building materials and industry contacts, quality and consistency were hard to find. It was supposed to be easier, but instead, managing his home became another job. 

At the same time, his best friend, Ramit Varma, was facing similar challenges. During a conversation, Ramit — a little envious that Tony seemed to have it all under control — said, “I wish I had a Tony.” That offhand comment sparked something bigger. Ramit imagined a service that could do it all: a trusted personal concierge to handle vendor selection, scheduling, follow-ups, and quality control — combining technology and personal service to make homeownership easier. 

Tony saw the need just as clearly, and with Ramit’s encouragement, he built it. And though Tony no longer lives on that street called Melody Lane, the name remains a tribute to what your home should feel like — a place where everything works in harmony.
